Gorrie and Daugherty Lead Wolves in Regina

Chris Camarata led the Lakehead Thunderwolves’ wrestling teams at the University of Regina Cougars Meet held on Saturday as he grabbed his third gold medal in three meets to remain undefeated this year.  Lakehead’s men came third in team points while the women came fourth.  The host Cougars won both men’s and women’s team titles. 

 

On the men’s side, Chris Camarata won his third individual gold at 54 kg, adding to his wins at the Calgary Dinos Open and the McMaster Open.  Camarata remains undefeated so far this season.  Mitch Fryia won his first gold medal at 65 kg and Dave Rector also took gold at 90 kg.  Andrew Elliot was fourth in the 76kg weight class while Darren Manion (130 kg) and Ryan McCleod (68 kg) both placed fifth.

On the women’s side, Michelle Gorrie was second at 48 kg, Leah Daugherty was third at 59 kg, and Alex Demars was fifth at 55 kg.  The Thunderwolves return to Thunder Bay where they will train hard in preparation for the Women’s Championship Cup to be held on Dec. 2nd and the Men’s National Duals Meets on Dec. 3rd at Lakehead University.  Both meets will be videowebcast on Lakehead ThunderVision.
