CIS Champs Day 1 Results

The Lakehead Thunderwolves had good results in the Day One Pool Round of the CIS national wrestling championships being hosted by Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
On the men’s side; Dave Rector did very well at 90 kg; going 3-0 (not losing a round) and qualifying for Saturday’s medal round with wins over Jon Rioux of Concordia (2-0), Beamer Comfort of Calgary (2-0), and Ali Al-Rekabi of Simon Fraser (2-0). Chris Camarata (57 kg) also did very well going 2-1; defeating Murray Payne of UNB (2-0) and Ryan Lannan of Calgary (2-1) while losing a tough match to Brandon Eyer of Guelph 2-1.
Clayton Serreres (61 kg) went 0-2 in his matches with a bye, Mitch Fryia (65 kg) was 1-2, Andrew Elliot (76 kg) was 1-1 with a bye, and Darren Manion (130 kg) was 0-3.
On the women’s side; Tasha Eady (63 kg) was 2-1, Emily McCaugue (72 kg) was 1-1 with a bye, Katie Patroch (59 kg) was 1-1 with a bye, Leah Dougherty (67 kg) was 1-2, and Michelle Gorrie (48 kg) was 0-2 with a bye.
