Wolves Jr. Nationals Preview

The Lakehead Thunderwolves have sent a team of eight wrestlers, four women and four men, to the Canadian National Junior Wrestling Championships in Charlottetown, PEI which runs Friday to Sunday. The junior nationals is for wrestlers aged 18-20.
On the men’s side; Lakehead is sending Brandon Gardner (66 kg), Chadd Lee (74 kg), Corey Lee (OUA Gold Medalist; OUA Rookie of the Year; 84 kg), and Josh Schug (120 kg). Representing Lakehead’s women will be Leah Daugherty (59 kg; OUA Bronze Medalist), Jessica Fortin (67 kg), Katelyn Proulx (67 kg), and Nicole Plummer (82 kg: OUA Gold Medalist; OUA Rookie of the Year; CIS Bronze Medalist).
Lakehead Head Coach Owen Dawkins said this will be a good learning experience for his younger wrestlers against the best in Canada. “For them; I think this will be exciting because they’re up against wrestlers of their own age so they can judge where they stand against their peers, have fun, and see how much they’ve improved after one or two varsity seasons.”
