The Lakehead Thunderwolves womenís and menís wrestling teams scored some impressive results, one gold, one silver, five bronzes, and two fourths, at the Ontario Senior Wrestling Championships in St. Catharines, Ontario on Sunday.

Lakehead sent a contingent of 10 men and two women to the championships.  This tournament featured all of Ontario's best senior and junior wrestlers; all wrestling for valuable carding points that go towards provincial carding.     Lakehead Head Coach Owen Dawkins said he was very happy with his squad.  ďIt was a great tournament by all and a fantastic performance by Chad Lee, Leah Daugherty and all the wrestlers and something to build upon for the future.

Lakeheadís two-person squad did very well; freshman Emma Brightwell took gold at 72k while Leah Daugherty took silver in the most competitive weight class on the womenís side; the 59kg class, so her silver was a real breakout performance for her and a sign that she may be ready to challenge for the OUA title this year.

On the menís side; Gaston Tardiff (60kg), Huy Nguyen (65kg), Chadd Lee (74 kg), Coree Lee (84kg), and Josh Schug (120kg) all took bronze medals.  Chris Camarata (60kg) and Dave Rector (120 kg) both placed fourth.
