Lakehead University

The Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s and women’s wrestling teams both have been ranked in the national CIS Top 10 pre-championship poll.  The Wolves men’s squad; fresh off a second place performance at the OUA championships that saw all 10 men medal and qualify for the nationals, are ranked No. 2 behind OUA Champions and arch-rival Brock.

Lakehead’s women, a squad that saw all five of its OUA team members medal and qualify for the nationals, are ranked No. 8 in the poll.

 

In the individual rankings, on the men’s side; Mitch Fryia is ranked No. 1 at 68 kg while Huy Nguyen (54 kg), Corey Lee (82 kg), and Darren Manion (130 kg) are all ranked No. 3.  All of Lakehead’s 10 men are ranked in the Top 5 at least in each of their weight categories.

On the women’s side; Leah Daugherty is ranked No. 4 at 59 kg, Nicole Plummer No. 5 at 82 kg, Jessica Bershatsky No. 6 at 42 kg, and Tasha Eady No. 7 at 67 kg.
