August 24th, 2008

Lakehead Thunderwolves Wrestling and Head Coach Owen Dawkins are very happy to announce the commitment of top student-athlete Karly Macleod to Lakehead for the 2008-2009 season.
Macleod hails from Bruce Mines, Ontario and attended high school at Central Algoma Secondary School in Desbarats, Ontario.  Macleod is coached by former Lakehead alumni and OUA Wrestling Champion and CIS Silver medalist Brent Friya.  Macleod posted a phenomenal 96.5% graduating average this year at Central Algoma.
Macleod said she is ready for the jump to university.  “I'm really excited about coming to Lakehead and wrestling at such a high level; but I'm also ridiculously scared and nervous at the same time to be entering such a new and different way of life.”
Coach Dawkins said Macleod has huge potential as a university wrestler.  “Karly possesses all the fundamental skills that are needed to become a great varsity wrestler and  I am very excited to have her join our team; the future for her is limitless.”
