Fielding a small roster of seven men and three women, the Lakehead Thunderwolves wrestling teams performed well at this Sunday’s Queen’s Wrestling Invitational with the men finishing fourth overall and the women seventh.

Junior Gaston Tardif (Calgary) led the way with a gold medal result in the 57 kg division. Two freshmen, Jason Bresele (Thunder Bay) and Scott Christian (Brampton) showed their development into contending wrestlers with silver medals in the 65 and 68 kg divisions, respectively.

On the women’s side, Lakehead was shut out of the podium, but senior Katelyn Proulx (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) got a thrill facing the 2008 and 2009 72 kg World Champion Martine Degrenier in a competitive match.
