The track team ran well this past weekend at the 2012 Bison Classic, hosted by the University of Manitoba.
In particular, Heather Maxfield (Thunder Bay, ON), for the second time this season, set a new Lakehead record in the 3000m, and Vanessa Ivec (Thunder Bay, ON) set a new personal best and made OUA qualifying time in the 600m. Tess Naroski (once again) set a new school record in the 1500m race as well. The men's 4 X 800m relay team missed the CIS qualifying standard by 3s - they might get another chance to qualify at the OUA meet.
Coach Kip Sigsworth:
"Overall it was a good weekend. Most athletes accomplished what they needed to so that this weekend in Duluth we can fine tune and focus on competing well and not chasing qualifying times. We are exactly where we need to be three weeks out from OUA's, now we need to stay healthy, keep working hard and get ready to run our best when it matters."
Most of the team will be travelling to Duluth this weekend to attend the Lake Superior Challenge while Alastair Brown and Tess Naroski will travel to Boston for the BU Valentines Day Invite.
